This is an exact copy of a letter previously available at the CDC (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention). This letter dated August 4, 2000 was sent from the CDC and contains a report on research findings which suggest that the spermicide nonoxynol-9 (N-9) does not protect against HIV transmission and may in fact facilitate HIV transmission.
