Mon Jan 7 - Go over syllabus and website. Take First Quiz (5 points)
Wed Jan 9 - Go over quiz answers.

WEEK TWO
Mon Jan 14 - Start chapter 2 up to survey method of research & Alfred Kinsey's pioneering work using this method
Mon Jan 14 - Drop/Refund Deadline (11:59 pm)
Wed Jan 16 - Finish chapter 2

WEEK THREE
Mon Jan 21 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day - COLLEGE CLOSED - no classes
Wed Jan 23 - Start chapter 3 up to pelvic floor muscles, Kegel exercises, the vagina

WEEK FOUR
Mon Jan 28 - Quiz over sex research (chapter 2) and continue up to menarche, menstrual cycle

NOTE: Today is the first day that the college-wide science outcome assessment is available in CANVAS
If you choose to participate you will need to take pre-test 1, & 2, & 3
between 1/28/19 and 2/17/19
you will also need to take post-test 1, & 2, & 3
between 3/4/19 and 3/24/19
If you do ALL 6 parts (3 pre-tests and 3 post-tests you can get extra credit according to the following scale:
0-3/12 correct = 1 extra credit point,
4-6/12 correct = 2 extra credit points
7-9/12 correct = 3 extra credit points,
10-12/12 correct = 4 extra credit points

Wed Jan 30 - Continue up to phases of the menstrual cycle, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea.

WEEK FIVE
Mon Feb 4 - Continue up to hysterectomy and oophorectomy
Wed Feb 6 - Continue up to mammograms

WEEK SIX
Mon Feb 11 - Finish chapter 3. Start chapter 4 up to origins and composition of semen
Wed Feb 13 - Continue up to appearance of circumcised and uncircumcised penises,
and Exam over Research (Chap 2) & Females (Chap 3)
NOTE: The exam will have 40 questions:
10 questions will be over chapter 2 (research)
and 30 questions will be over chapter 3 (females) and will include 10 picture-based questions
Today is also the deadline for the MINDTAP ACTIVITY
and today is an opportunity to turn in an EXTRA CREDIT ESSAY

WEEK SEVEN
Mon Feb 18 - Continue up to prostate cancer screening tests (DRE and PSA)
Wed Feb 20 - Finish chapter 4 (males) and start chapter 6 (sexual response cycle) up to primary and secondary erogenous zones and the role of senses in sexual arousal

WEEK EIGHT
Mon Feb 25 - Finish sexual response chapter (6) and start gender chapter (5) up to chromosomes that determine sex
Wed Feb 27 - Continue up to intersex conditions: Turner's syndrome, Klinefelter's syndrome, and Androgen Insensitivity syndrome

WEEK NINE
Mon Mar 4 - Continue up to Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, 5-alpha reductase deficiency, John Money's theories on gender identity formation, incidence of intersex conditions

NOTE: For those who participated in the pre-test portion of the college-wide science outcome assessment available in CANVAS this is a reminder that today is the beginning of the time window for taking the post-test 1, & 2, & 3
(between 3/4/19 and 3/24/19)
Once you have completed ALL 6 parts (3 pre-tests and 3 post-tests) you can get extra credit according to the following scale:
0-3/12 correct = 1 extra credit point,
4-6/12 correct = 2 extra credit points
7-9/12 correct = 3 extra credit points,
10-12/12 correct = 4 extra credit points

Wed Mar 6 - Participate in Breast Self Exam Exercise using breast models containing 4 lumps (5 points)
and Exam over Males (Chap 4) & Sexual Response Cycle (Chap 6)
15 questions will be over chapter 6 (sex response)
and 25 questions will be over chapter 4 (males) and will include 10 picture-based questions
and today is another opportunity to turn in an EXTRA CREDIT ESSAY

March 11 - March 17 = SPRING BREAK
COLLEGE CLOSED - NO CLASSES

WEEK TEN
Mon Mar 18 - Continue up to transsexual and transgender persons
Wed Mar 20 - Finish chapter 5 (gender) and start chapter 15 (STDs) up to Chlamydia infections

Fri Mar 22 - Withdrawal Deadline - Last opportunity to withdraw (will get a "W" grade), after this date you will not be able to withdraw yourself.

WEEK ELEVEN
Mon Mar 25 - Continue up to viral STDs: herpes, HPV, hepatitis A, B, & C

Wed Mar 27 - Finish STD chapter (chapter 15)

WEEK TWELVE
Mon Apr 1 - Start chapter 10 (contraception) up to hormonal methods: pills, rings, patches, implants, and injections
Wed Apr 3 - Continue up to male condoms (next time start with female condoms)
and Exam over Gender (Chap 5) & STDs (Chap 15)

WEEK THIRTEEN
Mon Apr 8 - Continue up to natural family planning methods.
Wed Apr 10 - Finish chapter 10 (contraception) and start "top 10 things to know from the pregnancy chapter (chapter 11)"
(discussed #1 - #8 of the top ten things)

WEEK FOURTEEN
Mon Apr 15 - Finish #9 & #10 of top 10 things to know from the pregnancy chapter. Discuss sexual orientations.
Wed Apr 17 - Watch movie "Daddy & Papa". There will be some questions about this movie on the final exam.

FINAL EXAM WEEK
Mon Apr 22       10:00am - 12:30pm
Exam over:

Contraception (Chap 10) - 30 questions based on the study guide for the contraception chapter

Pregnancy (Chap 11) - 10 questions based only on the TOP TEN things to know from the pregnancy chapter

Sexual Orientations (Chap 9) - 5 questions based only on the movie "Daddy & Papa". You will get to choose which 5 out of 16 possible questions you wish to answer. If you watch the movie you should do well on this part.

NOTE: The Final Exam will take place in the same classroom in which we have met all semester.
